Two Mid-19th Century Shirts by Past Patterns
The instructions note these Shirts as being appropriate for the 1840's - 1860's. Both views have plaited fronts, although view A is made from the older square cut method with dropped shoulders, and view B is more fitted.

Saundra Altman from Past Patterns has an excellent reputation for historical authenticity in her pattern designs. These Shirts are drafted from originals in museum collections. A Shirt in this time period would have been made from linen or cotton, most often in white. The detailed and well illustrated instructions also include historical notes.   This is a tissue paper pattern, multi-sized with chest sizes 34 to 50 in one package.
